Draft - Nansemond Parkway Corridor Study Report

The Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO), the metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for the Hampton Roads metropolitan planning area, has produced a DRAFT Nansemond Parkway Corridor Study report at the request of the City of Suffolk.

This report identifies any roadway capacity, traffic signal, access management and other near-term improvements that will be necessary along Nansemond Parkway in Suffolk, Virginia within the next ten years.  The objectives of this study include an assessment of the corridor and the identification of alternatives to improve traffic flow in the future with anticipated traffic growth and further development of the area.

Traffic analysis was performed for four scenarios to determine the extent of improvements that will be necessary to maintain acceptable traffic flow.  These scenarios included 2009 Existing, 2009 Existing Optimized, 2019 Planned Improvements, and, 2019 Planned & Spot Improvements.  It also provides recommendations for safety improvements and an evaluation of the access management conditions along the length of the corridor.

The purpose of this public notice is to solicit public review and comment on the DRAFT Nansemond Parkway Corridor Study report.  You may access the draft document by clicking on the following link:

FY 2011 Unified Planning Work Program
Draft 1

The Hampton Roads Transportation Planning Organization (HRTPO) has produced Draft 1 of its Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP) for fiscal year 2011, which begins on July 1, 2010.  The UPWP describes transportation planning work to be performed for the Hampton Roads metropolitan planning area by the HRTPO, the local public transportation operators (Hampton Roads Transit and Williamsburg Area Transit Authority), and the Virginia Department of Transportation.  This public notice is to request public review and comment on the first draft of the UPWP.
